Frequently Asked Questions

Why would I want to get Jawbone Companion for Android™?

Jawbone Companion for Android makes it easier and more convenient to use your Jawbone with your Android device.

Eliminate all the hassles of checking your calendar and dialing into calls. Jawbone Companion will tell you when you have an upcoming event, and will even dial you in with the press of a button.

Jawbone Companion displays an indicator for your Jawbone's remaining battery life, so you can always glance down to know how much talk time you have left.

You can access information about your calendar, battery life, and the current time, all when you press the TALK button on your Jawbone device.

What Android™ phones does Jawbone Companion currently support?

Jawbone Companion for Android is supported on OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), OS 2.3 (Gingerbread) and the following OS 2.2 (Froyo) phones:

  • HTC Nexus One

  • Motorola Droid X
  • Motorola Droid 2
  • Motorola Droid 2 Global
  • Motorola Droid Pro

It's free!

What kinds of alerts will I get with Jawbone Companion?

Jawbone Companion will play reminders for upcoming meetings, and notify you when a meeting is starting.

You can choose to turn on 'Polite Alerts' that minimizes the audio that first plays when the notification arrives. In this mode you'll hear a notification tone and can simply press the TALK button on your Jawbone device to hear more.

What if I missed an alert, or just want to hear recent alerts again?

No problem, just press the TALK button on your Jawbone device (when you're not in a call) and you'll hear a queue of reminders and notifications for upcoming and current meetings.

How do I dial into a call from a Jawbone Companion alert?

One of the most useful Jawbone Companion features is the ability to dial into a scheduled call that is starting or in progress. If your calendar event contains a phone number, the notification will offer to dial you in by pressing the TALK button on our Jawbone device. Make sure you press the button within a few seconds.

Dialing me into a call is great, but I still have to enter a passcode, right?

Jawbone Companion will look for passcodes within your event details, and will dial these in for you.

Shoot, I just dropped off my call! Can I dial back in?

Sure, just tap the TALK button on your Jawbone device to play the notification for your current meeting. Then you'll be offered the chance to dial-in by pressing the button again.

What information can I access with my Jawbone device's TALK button?

You can choose to hear an audio readout of the current time, your Jawbone's battery level, or both. If you have any queued alerts for upcoming or current events, you'll hear these too when you press the button.

How will Jawbone Companion help me keep track of my Jawbone's remaining battery life?

Jawbone Companion will display a battery meter on your phone's notification bar, indicating the Jawbone's remaining battery life.

How do I know which version of Android is on my phone?

To check which version of Android is on your phone, go to Settings and select About. Your phone's Android version should be one of the items listed on this screen. For more information, refer to your phone's user guide.

Why am I not hearing audio, or hearing audio slowly when I use my ICON headset?

Some Android phones with NVIDIA chipsets (such as the Motorola Photon 4G, Motorola Electrify, Motorola Droid X2, T-Mobile G2x, and Motorola Atrix 4G) are known to have problems with Jawbone Companion when used with a Jawbone ICON headset. Some functionality may be limited with these phone and headset combinations.

Why do I get a "Device not supported" dialog when starting the application?

OS 2.2 (Froyo) devices that are not on our list of supported devices will see this dialog. Though your device is not officially supported, you may still find that some of the features of the application work.

Why don't I see "Jawbone Companion for Android" when I search on Google Play?

Only phones with Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) and later are able to download the Jawbone Companion for Android application. Phones that are known to have major problems running the application will not be able to download the application.
